Harlem, New York, October 30, 2017 - The Dwyer Cultural Center and Friends of Vivian Robinson announce the 2017 Torch Bearers for Black Theatre Ceremony & Celebration, Monday, November 13, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM at the Dwyer Cultural Center, 258 St. Nicholas Avenue, Harlem, New York. An Evening of Reminiscing, Reflecting and Celebrating the Legacy of Love, Devotion and Dedication of Vivian Robinson, Founder AUDELCO Torch Bearer Ceremony includes Pioneer Torch Bearers, who received AUDELCO Awards between 1973 - 1995 will Pass the Torch for Black Theatre to individuals, they have selected, who have a commitment and carrying on the legacy, historical significance and creative development of Black Theatre. Douglas Turner Ward “The Father of African-American Theatre” will receive Special Honors – 50 Years of Black Theatre. Mr. Ward’s Dedication and Achievements on behalf of Black Culture will be acknowledged by colleagues and friends of Black Theatre To round out the evening, 2017 AUDELCO ‘VIV’ Award Nominees for Recognition for Excellence in Black Theatre hard work and dedication will be acknowledged.
